ABOUT THE TEA

The fresh tea buds used for Needle Green Tea are picked just before they unfold, taking only the very tip of the shoot—resembling a tiny needle—hence the name “Chè Đinh” (Needle Tea). The buds must be harvested at dawn, when they are still covered with morning dew, ensuring the fullest, freshest aroma of the day.

Ingredients

To produce 1 kilogram of dried Needle Tea, a minimum of 8–10 kilograms of fresh needle-tip buds is required.

A METICULOUS AND ARTISANAL PRODUCTION PROCESS

During processing, the firing stage is the most crucial and labor-intensive. The perfect balance of experience, listening, and sensitivity to each tea bud allows artisans to transform the delicate shoots into beautifully curled, crisp leaves that carry a natural young-rice fragrance.

Unlike regular green tea (which typically requires 5 kg of fresh leaves to produce 1 kg of dried tea), Needle Tea demands 1–2 times more raw materials at every stage.

Once harvested, the buds cannot be fired immediately. They must first be air-dried for 4–5 hours to reduce moisture. All equipment—rollers, dryers, and roasting drums—must be arranged in a continuous, synchronized system to ensure even processing.

After processing, the tea leaves curl tightly into small, uniform shapes resembling tiny needles—hence the name “Needle Tea.”

BREWING INSTRUCTIONS
